Physical Education

My name is Jordan Christianson. I a first year teacher here at a Cherry, and am from Sauk Rapids, MN. I graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with majors in Physical Education and Community Health.

I am a big believer in the research that states physical activity can increase ones ability to function in the classroom. Exercise helps the brain function by increasing the way neurotransmitters fire and wire together. When neurotransmitters are able to fire and wire together at a higher rate, mental sharpness also increases. The brain works in a more efficient and effective manner when students, and people in general, get more exercise.

There are other factors that contribute to this such as a well balanced diet and enough sleep. It is my goal to give the students the opportunity to take care of the exercise portion of the puzzle and put them in a situation to be equipped with the skills to endure in lifelong activities such as tennis, golf, softball/baseball, badminton, basketball, volleyball, snowshoeing, orienteering, and other activities.
