Learning Readiness Class  2016-2017

Learning Readiness at the Cherry school are two full days a week for children you are 4 years old before September 1, 2016.  We will help prepare your child socially and emotionally as well as academically for kindergarten.  Our instruction is guided by not only the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress but we also use the Creative Curriculum.  We have will have parent-teachers conferences twice per year.  Parents are also required to participate in our parent-involvement days a minimum of 2 days.

As long as we have openings, we will take registrations/enrollments throughout the year.  Children are required to be fully potty trained, to be up-to-date on all immunizations, and have participated through early childhood screening.   Questions please contact Ms. Deb at 218-258-8991 or email .

Dates for the 2016-17 School Year for special events:  


     Learning Readiness Parent Involvement Days: For current students enrolled in our preschool program, we are hosting our first parent involvement event. This is a great opportunity to come to the school and have some one-on-one time with their child. We will have special activities and games for parents to do with their preschooler. Below are the dates and times:
               April 27 and May 5.  Information will be sent home with currently enrolled students.

Spring Kindergarten Transition Night  

Do you have a child entering kindergarten in fall?  You are invited to come with your child to this special event scheduled for Thursday, April 20, 6:00 - 7:30 PM.    During your time here, you will be able to meet the kindergarten teachers and we will go on a tour of the school where there will be special activities to do in each area.   Near the end of the event, parents will meet with the teachers and have the opportunity to ask questions while the children enjoy a snack in the cafeteria.   This event is free!   We look forward to meeting you at this fun event!

2017-2018 Registration 
We are currently accepting registrations for the next school year.   Requirements: Children need to be 4 years old on or before September 1; be toilet-trained; and the State of Minnesota required that all children are up-to-date on immunizations before the first day of class.   Children are also required to participate in Early Childhood Screening which is free of charge and conducted at the school on selected dates.

Spring School Pride And Truck Night

Everyone is invited to attend this great event!     There will be displays of student work throughout the school as well as special presentations by students.   Area businesses have been invited to bring their trucks and/or special equipment for everyone to get a close look.    Mr. Ed's Farm will have a few animals on display for children to visit with.   A special guest appearance by the Teddy Bear Band will take place at 6 PM.    The speech team and high school band will be selling food for you to purchase for a small fee.   Proceeds will go towards their fundraising efforts.  The Cherry PTSO will also be holding the Spring Scholastic Book Sale during this event.    The special is buy a book, get one free!     So please join us and see all the great things taking place at the Cherry school!      Tuesday, May 9, 5:00 - 7:00 PM.  This event will take place rain or shine so dress accordingly to the weather.   See you soon!



*** SPECIAL NOTE:    The State of Minnesota requires that all children participating in ECFE and/or Learning/School Readiness programs need to be up-to-date on all immunizations in order to attend.   Please double check with your physician that your child is up-to-date on immunizations so there are no missed school days.
