Mr. Villebrun- Elementary Special Education

My name is John Villebrun and I am the Elementary Special Education teacher here at Cherry.  I have worked in education for 15 years.  I worked previously at the AlBrook school in Indian Education and for the Cloquet School district in their after-school programs. Before coming to Cherry, I was a Special Education teacher at the Fond du Lac Ojibwe School and the Nett Lake School.

I received my Elementary Education degree from Bemidji State University. I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree through the Naadamadawin Tribal Special Education Cohort from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and Augsburg College in Minneapolis.  I currently hold three teaching licenses from the Minnesota Department of Education in K-12 Special Education-(EBD/LD), K-6 Elementary Education and 5-8 Communication Arts/Literature.

In my free time I enjoy running, golf, spending time at home with my family and traveling.  I love cheering for the Vikings, the WILD, the Timberwolves and the Twins.  My wife Rae and I have six children: Nicholas (25), Alexander (23), Patia and Savannah (17), Ian (13) and Hannah (9). Our family has a puppy named Carley (6). We moved to Iron two years ago after living in Nett Lake for the previous three years.

I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.  Please feel free to contact me through my email jvillebrun@isd2142.k12.mn.us or at (218) 258-8991, ext 2113.
